Всплеск экономического роста, продолжавшийся с середины 1950-х до середины 1970-х годов, привел к значительным изменениям в образе жизни французов и в некоторых основных структурах общества.
К концу века большинство французов стали пользоваться большим комфортом и безопасностью, чем их предшественники; они воспринимали как должное автомобили, современную бытовую технику и загородные дома для отдыха,
которые еще недавно считались роскошью.
